Valentine’s Day Mini Cake with Paper Heart Liner

Cake & Candy· Valentine's Day

01-withWatermarkValentine’s Day is right around the corner, and I thought I’d share a fun dessert to make for the occasion.

Supplies needed to make your own Valentine’s mini cake:

  • Little Venice Cake Company Mini Cake Tin
  • Martha Stewart Heartbeat Punch
  • Cardstock
  • Tape
  • Your Favorite Cake Recipe, Powdered Sugar, Sprinkles, etc.

Steps:
Bake the cake according to your recipe. I halved this chocolate cake recipe, and ended up making a mini cake and 4 cupcakes. Make sure to grease the pan really well before pouring the batter in.

02-vdayCakeWhile the cake is baking, cut your cardstock into a strip that is about 3.5″ tall and 13″ long. Using your heartbeats punch, carefully punch out hearts evenly across the strip. (The punch has guides that make it really easy to do so!)

03Next, take the cake out of the pan and place it on a platter. If the top is not flat, use a serrated knife and even it out. Then you can decorate! I ended up just dusting my cake with powdered sugar and then adding rainbow sprinkles in a heart shape.

05You can also scatter some of the punched out hearts along the edge of your serving platter – just make sure nobody tries to eat them!

07Carefully place your punched paper liner around your cake and tape the ends together. Now take a step back to admire your work before devouring your dessert!
