Hello friends! When February approaches my mind immediately goes to everything pink, red and covered in hearts. Today we are creating an adorable paper mache heart Valentine’s Day craft that would make a great addition to your decor or a fun gift for someone special. I love this project because each and every heart can be made to be unique. Simply grab some of your favorite craft supplies and cover the paper mache heart in them!
Supplies needed to make your own paper mach heart Valentine’s Day craft:
- Paper Mache Heart Ornament
- Washi Tape
- Paper Doilies
- Assorted Craft Buttons
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam Sponge Brush
- Red and White Baker’s Twine
- Red Paint Pen
- White Paper
Step One. To begin this Valentine’s Day craft you will need to cover the entire paper mache heart in strips of washi tape. Try to create a patchwork pattern for more interest.
Step Two. Coat the heart with Mod Podge. The Mod Podge will help the washi tape to stick, stay in place and not peel up.
Step Three. Use Mod Podge to add a doily to the project. Allow the heart to dry completely.
Step Four. Add embellishments to your Valentine’s Day craft! Use a hot glue gun to attach buttons and a paper garland.
Create a garland by folding white washi tape over on itself to form each banner piece. Cut the ends to form a pennant shape. I used a red paint pen to add the word “love” to my garland.
I love the look of all of these buttons, placed randomly on the heart, they add a lot of dimension to this project!
This pretty Valentine’s Day craft heart would look lovely displayed with this burlap LOVE pennant banner. Please stop by Twin Dragonfly Designs to check out more of my favorite Valentines Day projects.
