Hi Friends! The holidays are right around the corner! I have always wanted to make my own cards but once the holidays start I often do not have time to finish. So starting early this year, I came up with a couple of easy DIY Christmas cards to pull off!
First up is this simple yet festive “Merry Christmas” polka dot tag card.
Supplies needed to make your own tag DIY Christmas cards:
- David Tutera Patterned Kraft Cards
- Core’dinations Blank Gift Tags
- Green & White Striped Washi Tape
- Calligraphy Pen
- Glue
- Red Ribbon
This card was so simple to make! I’ve been studying calligraphy for a few months now and thought this would be the perfect addition to my DIY Christmas cards. I wrote the words Merry Christmas with black ink on a simple blank white tag. At the end of the tag, I put a small strip of washi tape to give it a little decoration. I tied a red ribbon to the tag and glued the tag to the card. That’s it! The David Tutera patterned kraft cards is what really makes this such an easy project! I love all the designs in the card pack and it goes so well with the white tag!
Now, it’s onto this adorable “Merry & Bright” Rudolph card.
Supplies needed to make your own Rudolph DIY Christmas cards:
- Kraft Cards
- White Cardstock
- Silhouette Machine
- Deer Silhouette File
- Black Polka Dot Washi Tape
- Red Ribbon
- Small Glitter Pom Poms
- Glue
For this card, I did receive a little help from my Silhouette machine! I fell in love with a cute journaling card from their online store. Using that deer, I centered my kraft card on my Silhouette mat and cut the image out. I glued white cardstock for the inside of the card. For my banner, I used the Silhouette’s print and cut feature. Using one of my favorite fonts, I wrote out “Merry & Bright” in text. I chose a banner that had a very primitive feel to it (I didn’t want straight lines) and printed out the text and Silhouette registration marks on my printer and then ran that paper through my Silhouette machine for it to cut my banner. To decorate the card, I ran a stripe of black polka dot washi tape to the side followed by some red ribbon. I glued a red glittery pom pom to the deer’s nose and I was done!
I love how these DIY Christmas cards turned out and I love that they really took me no time at all to create!!

My soon-to-be sister-in law got crafty over the holidays and sent us some pretty awesome packages. One of the coolest was this DIY trivet, constructed from wine corks she’d been collecting.
Wow! These are so darn cute! I love that they are designed so great you don’t really need a intricate step-by-step! Thanks for the inspiration!! Can’t wait to spread some holiday love and cheer with some beautiful homemade cards!! <3
Cutting snowflakes, pressing them, and gluing them to colored cardstock is not only easy but it’s fun to do with kids. You can also make colored snowflakes on white cardstock.
I really am beginning to dislike pin it…. They give a love picture and I want to make one, but most of them don’t have instructions with them… so frustrating….
Aw, that little Rudolph nose has stolen my heart. So darling! You’ve got my gears turning for holiday card creating! Thanks so much, Tori!!! (Also, I can’t believe you WROTE that sentiment; I thought it was for sure a font. I think you may need to add font-designer to your ever-growing list of talents and skills!)
Your cards are in fact very festive and so pretty. However we don’t all have silhouette or Cricut Explore machines so will have to find other ways to make the cards similar to yours. Great ideas tho. Thanks for sharing. Happy weekend and season
Thanks JaneEllen! You are right but I love to show those who do what they can make with their machines! You can easily also opt to use a paper punch like a snowflake, star: http://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/scrapbooking-paper-punches/ek54-30191, or whatever else shapes they have. Cheers!
