I’m a huge fan of vintage Christmas decorations but lately, it seems like they’re becoming increasingly more difficult to find. It’s a good thing you can make your own vintage-inspired art like this “Merry” burlap DIY Christmas art! Let’s get started…
- 5 x 12 inch Stretched Burlap Canvas
- 8mm Red/White Candy Cane Chenille Stems
- Mini Glue Gun
- Mini Santa Hat
Step One. This project is so amazingly easy, I almost don’t need to write out a tutorial for it. You’ve got to love projects that only take two steps to complete during this hectic holiday season! To make your own burlap DIY Christmas art, you’re going to form letters out of the candy cane pipe cleaners and use a hot glue gun to adhere. Just one little hint: lightly write out the word “Merry” with a pencil on the front of the stretched burlap canvas and then follow by bending one letter at a time with the pipe cleaners. Glue another pipe cleaner in place when necessary.
Step Two. Once you’ve completed the pipe cleaner wording, mark the position of where you want the hat to hang and apply a liberal amount of glue. Quickly press the hat in place and hold until glue has cured.
And that’s all you need to do to make your own “Merry” burlap DIY Christmas art! Isn’t it just as cute as anything your grandmother had up in her house? You could even customize this technique and make the canvas say “Ho Ho Ho” or something like “Be Nice.” How much fun would either of those be? I hope you enjoy making one for your house that will be enjoyed for years to come.
