Today I took five minutes out of my day, and threw together a set of magnetic light-up snowman crafts!
I am a huge sucker for a cute snowman. I can’t get enough of them!
This is a great project for kids. I used a hot glue gun on my snowman crafts, but if you replaced the hot glue with some glue dots- this would be a perfect project for little fingers!
Supplies needed to make a set of three magnetic snowman crafts:
- LED Tea Lights- White Pearlized Base (one package)
- Knit Hat and Scarf Set (three packages)
- Heavy Duty Magnets (one package)
- Black Adhesive Pearls (one package)
- Hot Glue Gun or Glue Dots
Open your package of tea lights, and position it so that the switch will not be covered up by a hat or scarf.
Open your hat and scarf set packages.
Marvel at how cute they are- and how for the price- you would never make these yourself!
Apply adhesive to the top of your tea light. You can use either hot glue, or glue dots for this project.
Then add the hat. You may need to stretch it slightly. Make sure to pull it down over the top of the “face” a little.
Using a small amount of adhesive, secure the pom-pom of the hat to the brim.
Now tie the scarf into a loose half knot.
Adhere the scarf to the bottom of the tea light.
Let’s add a face to this little guy, shall we? The nose is already in place. 🙂
I love these self-adhesive pearls!
They are perfect for this project, because they come in graduated sizes. Perfect for eyes, and a mouth!
Now, add a magnet to the back with your chosen adhesive. I like to use heavy duty magnets. Then I am not worried about my project sliding down the fridge because it is too heavy for the magnet.
Now slide that switch on, flip those cute snowman crafts over, and give it a test run!
These festive snowman crafts would be perfect for a night light. Fun to hang on the front door to light the way for Santa and his reindeer! Or as a unique neighbor gift.
A simple, easy way to add to your holiday decor.

Cute snowmen (seen 11-2015). Where can you buy hat and scarfs
Thanks
Since this post was a couple of years ago and you just published the top 10 pinned items on Pinterest (this being one of them) this morning 11/4/2015, what do you suggest you substitute for the black bling pearls since you don’t carry them anymore?
Hi Denise! Thanks for catching that. Here is a substitute: https://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/scrapbooking-pearls-and-gem-embellishments/121708
Happy Crafting!
Although the hats and scarves were sold out in no time, and it was my own fault for waiting for the shipping to be lower without having to spend $100!! So I compromised and I used felt for a scarf, pipe cleaner and pom poms to make ear muffs instead of a hat, and I also made them ornaments instead of magnets too since mine had tiny feet on the bottom of the candles and I would have had to use a super thick magnet!! They were a HUGE hit and our school principal attached hers to her badge and wore it all day!! THANK YOU for such a cute, fun, versatile, easily modifiable, and easy project!!
I LOVED this idea, and wanted to use it on a project I was making; a welcome sign for our apartment’s front door. put glue around the perimeter of the candle and glued it to a painting canvas I had painted blue. When the glue dried, I used a hobby knife to cut away most of the canvas behind the candle, so I could reach the on/off switch from behind. I used craft store wooden letters to say, “Welcome”, and used felt for the snowman’s body. I glued plastic snowflakes to the canvas to finish the theme, The whole thing took well under an hour, except for drying time.
The finished sign is hanging from my front door, and everyone seemed to love it, and, the Fire department hasn’t fussed about it being a fired hazard. Wish I could post a photo, but I hope my discussion helped my side.
Very clever use of material for a very cute snowman. Very well done.
I sell craft magnets. If you are looking for the stronger craft magnets
I offer them on my website. If I am out of line here, please let me know.
I am new to all this and am not sure what is accepted on your blog.
Again, very clever and well done.
where can I find the hat and scarfs please let me know
Hi Carlene, you can usually purchase the hat and scarf sets here: http://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/basics-miniature-seasonal-accents/1625-46
However, they are out of stock for the season and will not be in until next year. Sorry!
i love these,i also like the idea of making them into pins as well.for the hat and scarfs why not use a pair of mini gloves, you can use the finggers for the hat ,or you can always use felt.
WOW, love, love, love these!! What a great addition to a teachers gift, gift topper, or for the snowman lover in your life, like my Aunt!! However, wow, unless you spend over $100 you get nailed with over $10 in shipping for 8 packs of scarves and hats, making them well over $2 a piece. I found my lights at the Target $1 spot, 2/$1, and I’ve got crystals in my craft/scrap stash already as well as magnets, but now I can’t make these. $10 for shipping=RIDICULOUS!!!!!! Thanks for the super cute idea though, and will continue to check around locally for hats and scarves.
@Karla- Consumer Crafts frequently runs $1.97 shipping deals- I jump on that. But honestly- I have five kids and can usually hit that $100 mark. 🙂 Great find at Target! That is an awesome price for the lights! You could probably make your own hats and scarves out of felt or even cardstock.
Ooh thanks for the tip Shaunte, I really appreciate it!! I’ll watch for the deal because although I could easily spend over $100 myself, and could pay the extra for the hats too, I’m trying to stick to my budget this year!! I thought about felt, I may have to try that if they don’t run the deal soon!! Thanks so much!!
What a stroke of absolute genius. So adorable and quick, easy and affordable. Just love them. Now I need to find the little hat/scarf sets to put on them. So glad I found this post. Happy Thanksgiving.
Oh, this is so adorably CUTE!!!!!!! Can’t wait to make some. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Oh, I can’t wait to make these with my granddaughter!
You. Are. Brilliant.
Thanks for your help! Can’t wait to try making some.
This is ridiculously cute! I love it!
Thanks Morena! My kids are going to run down the batteries before the snow flies! They are obsessed!
These are so cute! I would like to know where you got the hat and scarf packages as well.
Thanks!

Just saw your post about where to purchase supplies. I was wondering how these would do as a pin. Would the tealight be too heavy to make them into a pin that you wear?
Thanks for your help!
@ellen- YES! They are lightweight enough for a pin! I like that idea even better than the magnet. They would be darling! I am going to pick one of the magnets off, and send one to my daughters school teacher! So cute. Thanks for the idea! The tealight measures 1.25″ so I would probably go with the 1″ pin, so it doesn’t show. (http://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/jewelry-findings-pins/1880-59) HTH!
