As one who is always looking to add color to everything, I am very much in love with these simple and modern colorful DIY snowflake decorations. Sure, snowflakes in crafts are usually white, but why? They are so much prettier with color and if mother nature isn’t going to provide a rainbow snow shower for me, I might as well create my own! These snowflake wreaths are simple to make and very minimalist, and while you can easily make one for your front door, I love how they look in a big group as wall art instead.
- Raw Wood Snowflake Ornaments
- Mini Laser Cut Snowflakes
- Acrylic Craft Paint
- Gold Macrame Hoops in Various Sizes
- Hot Glue
- Paint Brushes
Begin by choosing your colors of paint and painting your snowflakes these colors. If you are only making one wreath, then you only need 2-3 colors, and one hoop, wood ornament, and package of mini snowflakes. And yes, if you are not into the colorful snowflakes, you can easily paint these DIY snowflake decorations white for a more traditional look.
Once your snowflakes are painted on the front and the back, let them dry. Then, use your hot glue to attach the small snowflakes to the larger ones (I think they look best slightly off center, but do what looks good to you!). To attach the large snowflakes to the macrame hoop you will want to add a line of glue on the hoop itself and press the snowflake on the hoop. Once the glue has cooled, gently tip the hoop over and add glue across the back of the hoop on to the back of the snowflake. This will completely encapsulate the macrame hoop in glue on and around the back of the snowflake. If you just glue the snowflakes to the front of the hoop, they will pop off, but by surrounding the hoop with glue, it helps the snowflakes stay on much better.
Repeat as many times as you wish with different color snowflakes and sizes of macrame hoops to create your own DIY snowflake decorations assortment.
