Handmade Gift Challenge: Photo Pendant Bookmarks

Handmade gifts are always the best.  Thoughtful, useful and personalized handmade gifts are even better.  I wanted to make this bookmark for my mother-in-law that loves to read.  She still loves the feel of a physical book (not those “fancy schmanchy Kindles”).  These photo pendant bookmarks are super easy and only requires a few materials.  It’s the perfect gift for the bookworm in your life.

Handmade-ribbon-bookmarks-Crafts-UnleashedI did print on Clear Printable Sheets to give it a cool effect, but you could just print on transparency paper, regular paper, or just use a photo.

Supplies needed to make 2 photo pendant bookmarks:

Total: $16.55 or $8.27 each!

ribbon-bookmark-0What grandmother wouldn’t love a picture of their grandchild?  It’s always our default gift when we have to get things for the grandparents in our family.  My sister says its not fair because our gifts always top hers because our gifts have pictures of our kids.

The clear printable stickers come in a pack of 8, but you will only need a very small amount (less than 1/10 of 1 sheet).

Print out your favorite image.  I printed mine out in black and white.  I find that images that have lighter backgrounds work best for this effect. You can print a few images to see which one works best for you.

ribbon-bookmark-3The frame comes with removable glass protective sheet that you can use for your template to cut the image.

ribbon-bookmark-4Cut the rectangle photo and remove the image from the backing.  Doesn’t it look cool?

ribbon-bookmark-5I love the translucent image in the frame.

ribbon-bookmark-6Take your ribbon and cut it to 10 inches in length.

ribbon-bookmark7Dab a little glue onto the ribbon and attach the finding.  I used a paper towel over the metal so it wouldn’t scratch.

ribbon-bookmark-8You could attach one frame pendant on each end or maybe a jewel charm on the other.  The possibilities of these pretty bookmarks are endless!
