Handmade Gift Challenge: Mini Recycled Wall Art Pieces

Christmas gifts can get expensive. Handmade gifts are a nice way to cut down on expenses while making the gift extra special. My favorite thing about handmade gifts is the opportunity to personalize them. I came up with these cute recycled wall art pieces that can be totally customized to the gift recipient. They are even appropriate as gifts for men. Let’s get started!

Recycled-wall-art-Crafts-UnleashedSupplies needed to make your own recycled wall art:

Total: $5.61 or less.

mini wall art01Step 1: Cut a piece of wire. The length depends on how long your design will be – just give yourself a bit extra to work with.

Step 2: At this point, you can opt to cover the wire with a thin strip of fabric (about 1/8 inch wide). Just use whatever length you have, you can keep adding strips as you wrap. I think it is easiest to wrap the wire at this point but there is another option. You can wait until after you make your design and then wrap the wire (this way can fray the fabric if you work it too much).

Step 3: I found it helpful to use pliers to make designs, especially when making intricate designs. But my husband made some designs with me and he just used his thumbs. So find the technique that works best for you.

Step 5: Glue the wood circle into the mason jar lid.
