I absolutely love making wreaths for all the seasons but Christmas wreaths have got to be some of my favorite to make. (Other than Halloween, of course!) Unfortunately, since this time of year is so busy for our family, my best intentions for wreath-making often get overlooked and before I know it, the new year is here and there’s still no holiday wreath on my door. This year is going to be a little different because making this candy cane pom pom DIY holiday wreath is so crazy easy that I’ll be able to whip it out in between frantic runs to the toys store!
- Red Acrylic Pom Pom Garland
- White Acrylic Pom Pom Garland
- 14″ Metal Wreath Form
- Baker’s Twine
- Green Linen Ribbon
- Hercules Double Sided Tape
Step 1. Begin making your candy cane pom pom DIY holiday wreath by securing the end of the garland to the wire wreath form. I used a thin wire in the picture below but eventually figured out that it’s tons easier to just use baker’s twine. Just make sure to tie a double knot around both the garland and the wire wreath form.
Step 2. Once the garlands are secured, begin wrapping the wire wreath. I pulled and adjusted the strands a bit to try and get each stripe to fit within the other. Sometimes the garland wasn’t long enough to fit perfectly in the nooks of the previous stripe but for the most part it worked out!
Step 3. Continue wrapping until you come to the end of the pom pom garland. Connect another strand of pom poms by tying the two together with a small piece of twine. Tie off the end with an additional piece of twine when the wreath is completely filled.
Step 4. Time to make the bow! You can either make a basic bow just by tying a piece of ribbon onto the wire wreath or use my super easy method seen below to make the perfect bow. I used the Hercules Double Sided Tape to secure everything. I love that stuff! Attach to wreath with either a small piece of wire or twine looped through the back.
This candy cane pom pom DIY holiday wreath is so easy to make that you can get it done in about 15 minutes. It could be even faster if you have a pre-made bow! Or take your time and make one with your kids. I promise that it’ll be a special memory for years to come!
