There’s just something about this time of year that goes together perfectly with rustic decor. Maybe it’s the romance of a simpler life or maybe we just love rusted red pick-ups delivering Christmas trees? Either way this rustic bell DIY Christmas wreath is sure to offer a warm welcome to your holiday guests!
Supplies needed to make your own rustic bell DIY Christmas wreath:
- 16 inch Metal Wreath Form
- 5 Tip Pine Floral Sprays (10)
- 3 Tip Pine Floral Sprays (8)
- Rusty Jingle Bells (12)
- Burlap Ribbon
- Americana Decor White Chalky Paint
- 1/2 inch Double Sided Hercules Tape
- Bowdabra Bow Wire
- Core’dinations Sand It Gadget with Sandpaper
Step One. You can either begin with a pre-made wreath or make your own with some floral sprays and a wreath form. Going one at a time, wrap the floral spray wire end around the wreath form until secure.
Step Two. Continue placing all the sprays until the entire wreath is covered. I added a few smaller sprays to add an extra dimension to my wreath.
Step Three. Apply an even coat of white chalky finish paint to all the rusted bells. Allow to dry completely before sanding away some of the paint on the top and sides for a rustic look.
Step Four. The green sprays were a little too bright for my taste so I quickly brushed a bit of brown paint onto the front to age them a bit.
Step Five. You can either do a traditional bow if you’ve got mad bow-making skills or follow the pictures below to make a fake one!
Step Six. Use thin wire to attach the center of the bow to the wreath. Wrap the bow ends downward around the DIY Christmas wreath in an attractive manner. You can use the thin wire to secure bow strands in place to the wreath.
Step Seven. In groups of three, lace the bells together and secure to the DIY Christmas wreath frame with the thin wire.
Hope you enjoy making your very own rustic bell DIY Christmas wreath!

you explain real simply and I have been looking for something like this for ages to do at home for our door for x Mas. Thanx so very much.
I like the tip about brushing the branches to age them. I’ve never seen that with brown but, I like it for this antique look.
So cute, so seasonal, so great for holidays but not too Christmasy. Could still have up after Christmas. I like to have things can be used for Winter, not just holidays.
Am wondering why you painted the rusty bells? Why not leave them rusty? Just asking, not a complaint.
Happen to have several of the really rusty bells. Got bunch at Ben Franklins when we lived out of Helena, MT. Loved that store. At the time Ben Franklins’ was about it for craft supplies, not much in Helena yet at that time. We left there in May/99. Boy do I miss MT. Would go back if we could.
Anyway, this is great project, not expensive or hard to put together, can change things several ways if inclination dictates. Like to make versatile projects.
Have great weekend. Happy daze
Super cute! Or elegant? I love it! It looks like a high end boutique item. Well done. 🙂
