One of the best things about the winter holiday season is the amount of presents to wrap. I wish I could wrap this many presents all year! Each gift wrap is an opportunity to create mini art. This year, I came up with five easy, vintage-inspired Christmas gift wrap ideas.
5 Gift Wrap Ideas:
Vintage gift wrapping ideas #1: Stenciled kraft wrapping paper. This one is easy! Just randomly paint stenciled numbers on long piece of kraft paper and finish by wrapping lots of red twine around the package.
Stenciled kraft paper gift wrap supplies:
- Stencils (I used these number stencils) (this stencil package contains good instructions on how to use stencils)
- White Chalk Paint
- Red Baker’s Twine
- Kraft Paper Roll (I buy rolls of kraft paper in the paint section of hardware stores – super inexpensive!)
Vintage gift wrap ideas #2: Vintage ornaments. You could tie vintage or vintage-inspired ornaments any way you want as a gift topper. And it’s a gift in itself, which is one of my favorite types of toppers! If you want this cascading look, here are the steps. Tie two ornaments on a piece of twine and tie two other ornaments on separate pieces of twine (one long piece and one short piece). Wrap twine around the gift and knot once. Gather the ties of the ornaments, string through the twine that’s around the package and knot again. Finish off with a messy bow.

Vintage gift wrap ideas #3: Feathers & snowflake. Another easy-peasy idea. Paint a wooden snowflake white. While that’s drying, top your package with a dollop of glue, add six white feathers and glue the snowflake on top. I like that you could use this idea for any winter holiday or celebration.

Vintage gift wrap ideas #4: Printed vintage paper. This one is so fun! Lots of generous people have put their images of vintage Christmas wrapping paper on Flickr. I love browsing all the awesome vintage images. Find your favorite and print it out. It will be a great size for small gifts.
Printed vintage paper gift wrap supplies:
- Vintage Image (here’s the one I used – vintage reindeer & Santa)
- Home Printer
- Regular Copy Paper
Vintage gift wrap ideas #5: Linen flowers. Another easy gift topper that is a gift in itself. Just use some pretty tape to adhere a small bouquet of linen flowers to the package. I really like the simplicity of this idea and it’s perfect anytime of the year!
Linen flowers gift wrap supplies:
- David Tutera Linen Flowers
- Lace Doily Tape (this tape is so pretty!)
I’m curious – do you wrap all your gifts in matching paper or do you skip the theme and use a variety of styles?
