Is anyone else gearing up for the warm weather, outdoor playtime, and all the icy cold treats? I know I sure am! I can’t wait to do all the summer activities with my kids! This DIY watercolored popsicle craft garland is the perfect way to usher in that summer fun. It doesn’t matter if you make it for a party or just to hang on your mantel. The bright colors will have you ready for summer in no time!
Supplies to make your own popsicle craft garland:
- White Cardstock
- Martha Stewart Watercolor Gel Paint
- Martha Stewart Brush Set
- Jumbo Natural Craft Sticks
- Baker’s Twine
- Hole Punch
- Glue
Begin by cutting out the cardstock into a rounded rectangle popsicle shape. You will want to cut 12 rectangles. Next, add a bit of the water color paint to a paint palate and add a few drops of water to get a nice thin watercolor consistency. Paint over the card stock with the paint brush to create a wash of color. Start with all pink on one rectangle and then slowly work your way through the colors of the rainbow blending the colors as you go.
Now that you have painted all your rectangles, let the paper dry. Don’t worry if it curls up as the popsicle sticks will help to flatten the paper. Next, you will want to glue the popsicle sticks to the back of the rectangles.
Once the popsicle sticks are glued on and the glue is dry, punch holes in the top sides of each popsicle and string onto a piece of baker’s twine.
Then your DIY popsicle craft garland is ready to hang!
Now don’t you wish that actual popsicles came in watercolored hues like these?! If this DIY watercolored popsicle garland doesn’t scream summer, I don’t know what does! Ha! Happy Crafting!
