I’m not kidding when I say this is probably one of the more fun things I have created in a while. This DIY trophy gift card holder is so easy to assemble and can hold more than just a gift card. Stuff it with Dad’s favorite chocolate, movie passes etc – this will be a hit for sure! Come and join me as I share how to create this fun gift!
Supplies needed to make your own DIY trophy gift card holder:
- Plastic Cup
- Chipboard
- Gold Spray Paint
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glue
- Electronic Die Cutter
- Template (SVG)
- Round Wooden Plaque (I used a 4″ diameter one)
Step 1. First, cut and glue the handles together. I sized mine around 2″ high in proportion to the cup I used. I cut 4 pieces on chipboard for each handle to get a sturdy handle for the trophy.
Step 2. Once the handles are dry, glue them onto the cup using a glue gun. Make sure they are the same height on both sides. You can mark where you want them to go beforehand s it makes the step easier.
Step 3. Next, cut the elements for the badge. I cut three pieces on chipboard for the badge’s scallop backing. For the front circle that says ‘Best Dad’, I cut 5 pieces on cardstock to get a cleaner cut as the letters are small.
Step 4. Glue them down, making sure the letters are aligned with each other. I used a glue pen to attach them together – it’s easier to glue down small detailed cuts with a glue pen such as the one pictured below.
Step 5. Then, attach the badge in front of the cup.
Step 6. Next, attach the cup onto the circular wood plaque for a base. We’re almost finished – isn’t it so easy?
Step 7. Finally, spray the trophy with the spray paint – to get a good coating, I used 3 layers to even it all together.
That’s it! You can use a bigger cup to have more space for more chocolate or goodies you want to pack. Use some paper shred to hold the gift card nicely if you only have a gift card to put in the trophy.
