I just love creating banners for photo props! Today I’ll be sharing an easy way to create a fun, colorful rainbow lucky banner for St. Patrick’s Day. It’s easy to create – especially if you have an electronic die cutting machine. But if you don’t, do not worry – you can still make it and enjoy it just in time for St. Paddy photo sessions!
Supplies needed to make your own lucky banner:
- Bright Colored Cardstock
- Scissors or Electronic Die Cutter
- Printable PDF Template or SVG Template
- Lime Green and White Baker’s Twine
- Roller Adhesive or Stick Mount Adhesive Roll
- Core’dinations Printable White Glitter Paper
- Hole Punch
- Washi Tape or Glitter Tape
Step 1. Cut your rainbow pennant banner base. Use an electronic die cutter for convenience, but if you do not have one, you can create a template from cardboard and trace it onto your cardstock before cutting to make it easier.
Step 2. Cut out your letters – use glitter paper to give the banner some interest and a nice sparkly sheen for photos! Again, using an electronic die-cutter would be the easiest way, but you can definitely hand-cut it.
Step 3. Attach your letters onto the corresponding banner color (I used ROYGBIV for the sequence). Use glue, roller adhesive or mounting tape to give it a bit of dimension.
Step 4. Use a hole punch to add holes to where you are threading your baker’s twine on.
Step 5. Thread your pennants on baker’s twine, making sure there’s enough space between each pennant and at least 12 inches per side.
Step 6. To make it more interesting and to keep the pennants from moving around too much, use washi tape in between each pennant to hold them in place.
And you are done! This lucky banner is great for photo shoots but it’s also good for a wreath accent, a fireplace mantle banner, or whatever you can think of.
