Anyone who has to deal with children on a daily basis can completely sympathize with the daily struggle that is getting your kids dressed. My two older kiddos have very specific ideas on what they will and won’t put on their little bodies. While I’m typically all for encouraging their budding independent spirits, there are some days that are just more difficult than others. For instance, my seven year old daughter won’t wear green. No matter what I suggest, she has no desire to wear anything in a shade of green which makes St. Patrick’s Day a little interesting. By adding a little glittery sparkle to this simple DIY leprechaun hat headband, she’s in no danger of getting pinched – and I’ve saved myself a world of headache.
Supplies needed to make your own DIY leprechaun hat headband:
Step One. Place the mini leprechaun hat on top of a small piece of felt and use the scissors to trim around the edge of the hat.
Step Two. Trim slightly inside the felt oval.
Step Three. Apply a small strip of hot glue to the underside of the headband and press the felt oval to the glue. Hold the felt in place while the glue cools.
Step Four. Apply a line of glue around the outside edge of the felt oval and press the mini leprechaun hat on top of the felt. Hold the hat to the felt firmly until the glue cools completely.
Let the hot glue dry completely. Your DIY leprechaun hat headband is now ready to be worn and shown off!
Ironically enough, my seven year old is asking to wear this sweet headband now and is re-thinking her self-imposed green clothing ban. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?!
