I don’t know about you all but I am itching for spring. Why not bring a little spring indoors right now? Make these push pop cupcakes for your friends and family and it is sure to put a smile on their faces. These are super simple but will look like you slaved away in the kitchen all day.
Before we get to the directions for the cupcakes, you are going to need a holder to keep the containers standing upright. I have a super simple solution to make a push pop holder in minutes. Start with a photo storage box in white. Measure and mark for evenly spaced holes. The box will handle 10 of the containers.
First, use a phillips head screw driver to poke through the box on your marks.
The holes need to be slightly larger to accept the containers. I found a marker that was roughly the same size and used it to poke through my holes a second time.
Now you have a push pop holder so your creations will not fall over once completed.
Now, let’s get to the fun part! Supplies needed:
- Push Pop Containers
- Wilton Icing Color Kit
- Little Venice Cupcake Starter Kit
- Baked Cake
- Canned or Homemade Frosting
- Peeps
- Coconut
I baked a regular boxed cake mix in three pans. This way, each layer is thinner. I colored those layers pink and purple with the Wilton food colors. If you have never used gel food coloring before, it makes a brighter and more vibrant color and is definitely required for these push pops. Use your push pop container to cut rounds of cake. Start with one round in the bottom of your container. Pipe in icing then add another round of cake. Continue until you have three rounds of cake inside your container. This should fill it to the top.
Next, add a little coconut to a zippered bag and put in a little green food coloring. Zip closed and mix with your hands until the coconut is green and looks like grass.
Add some icing on top of your last cake round and place a Peeps chick.
Add icing around the chick and put green coconut around the back and sides.
These little guys are ready to serve! Put them in the holder you made above to keep them upright. A group of these would look great at your Easter celebration.
Kids love to have their cupcakes served as push pops – it makes them extra special. Plus, they are just as easy as regular cupcakes — only cuter!

So cute!! These look yummy and fun!
Hi Jo,
The blog is not optimized to print. You could go to File and Print on your browser, but it will print many pages and use a lot of ink. I would suggest highlighting the text and photos that you would like printed, right click and copy, then paste it into a Word document. You can then change the format and size of the text and photos. Everything would then print out as how it looks in the document. I hope this helps! Sarah
How do I print the directions for any of these cute ideas? I can figure out the awesome push-pops myself, but some of the others I would like a printed form for my middle-age brain to remember!! As you can probably tell I am not very computer literate or I would be able to figure this out on my own. Thanks for the ideas!
These look delicious – and are so cute!
Cool!
These are ADORABLE! My kids would go crazy for them.:)
