Happy Spring! I’m so excited that spring is finally here… we’re still getting some colder temps here in St. Louis, but I know the warmer temps are on their way. Woo-Hoo! With spring, comes Easter and there is something incredibly sweet about that day to me. I love the colors, bunnies, chicks and candy. It’s such a fun day, which is why I thought I would share a festive kids craft with you: pom pom Easter chicks.
Supplies needed to make your own pom pom Easter chicks:
- Yellow Yarn
- Pom Pom Maker Set (optional)
- Scissors
- 8mm Wiggly Eyes
- Orange Pipe Cleaners
- Wire Cutters (optional)
- Low Temp Glue Gun
We’re going to start by making our yarn pom poms. I like to use a pom pom maker when making mine; however, there are soooo many different techniques out there to use (i.e. using a fork, cardboard, etc). Feel free to find a technique that suits you and your budget.Once you’ve made your pom poms, you’re going to cut your pipe cleaner into small pieces for the Easter chicks feet and beak. You don’t need to measure these pieces, just be sure the pieces are big enough to bend into little feet (as pictured below) and that you can fold the beak in half so that there isn’t a sharp piece of the wire poking out of his little face. Side note: You can also use orange felt for the beak if you’d like.
Now we’re ready to assemble. You’ll place a dab of glue on each foot and push it into the pom pom and do the same with the beak . I used a glue gun to attach all of my pieces to keep the assembly time quick and easy. A low-temp glue gun is safe and has a fast drying time.
Glue on your wiggly eyes — aaand we’re done!
How adorable are these sweet little Easter chicks? They would make great little favors for an upcoming Easter party or dinner, right? You could even add them to little Easter baskets as well.
Perfectly spring, festive and easy! Happy crafting, sweet friends.

what size are the Pom Poms?
We made these yarn pom poms around an inch to inch and a half in diameter but you can make them whatever size you’d like!
I appreciate looking through your websites. Many thanks!|
Aww…
Too adorable!!!
Definitely will make this!!!!
These are cute, but no instruments on how to make them.basically we need measurements.
Hi Laura, Kelly used a pom pom maker set – http://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/basics-yarn-acrylic-wool-and-specialty/1171-62
By using a pom pom maker, the exact size is not needed since you have a template. If you do not have a pom pom maker, just make the poms as big as you’d like. Experiment with a few different sizes – it’s up to you!
Thank you very much for this great idea…I love it and made it…thanks
