With the holiday season in full swing I’ve been busy working on gifts for the special people in our lives. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the never ending holiday to-do list and making sure we cross everyone off our gift list. Sometimes easy gift ideas are the way to go. Not only are they time-saving but also inexpensive to make. My favorite way to give a gift has always been in a mason jar. There are thousands of way to decorate a mason jar gift for every occasion and can be filled with just about anything. These Santa mason jar Christmas gifts may be my favorite holiday gifts so far. When I came across this red mercury glass jar I knew the would make great mason jar Christmas gifts. It’s a beautiful jar and the recipient could later reuse it in their home decor if they’d like.
Supplies needed to make your own Santa mason jar Christmas gifts:
- Red Mason Jars
- Pre-made Santa Belt OR
- Black Ribbon & Belt Buckle
- Faux Fir
- Hot Glue
- Chalkboard Vinyl
Since the jar is so pretty on it’s own I didn’t want to do too much to it. I was inspired by the red color to make a Santa out of it. So I glued black ribbon and a belt buckle from my sewing stash around the center.
For an even easier embellishment you could use this Santa belt.
Now for the fun part – the faux fur “beard” around the lid! This was sort of an after thought once I had the jar made but I’m so glad I added it. I think it gives the jar a finished look. All I had to do was cut a strip of faux fur (about an inch wide) and hot glue it around the lid. I then took a piece of chalkboard vinyl to apply on the top of the lid. You can use a circle punch or die cutting machine to cut a perfect circle.
Aren’t these fun mason jar Christmas gifts a great idea? You could fill them with candy, holiday treats, small gifts, or a gift card.
