It’s my favorite time of the year! Even though the weather says it’s still summer I’m ready for pumpkins, bats, and ghosts! I’ve been holding back on starting Halloween crafts for about a month and I’m ready to start decorating now that Halloween is only a month and a half away. This year, I’m keeping up with my black and white decorating theme. Today, I’m sharing the latest addition to my Halloween DIY vignette. These Halloween DIY vinyl candles are easy to make and the best part is they’re made with flameless candles. You can use them for years and never worry about the candles burning out.
Supplies needed to make your own Halloween DIY candles:
- Cricut Explore Die Cutting Machine
- Black Silhouette Vinyl
- LED Flameless Candles
- Silhouette Transfer Paper
- Weeding Hook Tool
Step one: Browse the Cricut design space for your preference of bat and spiderweb designs. I found a shape I liked and adjusted the sizes in various heights. My smallest spider is about half an inch.
Step two: Adjust your settings to vinyl and cut your designs.
Step three: Use the weeding hook tool to remove the excess vinyl. This is optional but it makes peeling off those tiny pieces so much easier! Once your extra vinyl is removed, use transfer paper to apply the vinyl onto the candle.
I was pleasantly surprised with how well the Cricut Explore can cut small, intricate designs – especially those tiny spiders!
Are you ready for Halloween decor? I’ll be back to share a Halloween DIY party favor soon!

However much I’d love to have a Cricut Explore or another one of fancy machines, it’s just not going to happen with my budget. From what I’ve seen can do so much with any of them.
I’ll find some stickers I guess to put on some candles, better than nothing I guess. I do have a Xyron machine that makes stickers so maybe dig that out to try. Really cute project for Fall/Halloween.
Happy weekend
