So, you love the trendy look of farmhouse chic right now but you’re also a big fan of Halloween? No need to choose! Just follow the easy instructions to make a farmhouse style fall pumpkin project that will match perfectly next to your vintage barn wood paneling.
Supplies needed to make your own farmhouse pumpkin project:
- Slated Decorative Wood Pumpkin.
- Americana Decor Chalky Paint in:
- Pattern Makers:
- Paintbrushes.
- Stencils.
- Dabbers, etc.
- Core’dinations Sand It Gadget with Sandpaper.
- Burlap Ribbon.
Step 1. Apply a light coat of chalky paint in Everlasting to all sides of the wood pumpkin. Don’t apply too much paint or you’ll have a hard time exposing the bare wood later. Try not to get too much paint on the inner sections or your pumpkin won’t fit together well.
Step 2. Start applying the patterns to the wood pieces. I went with three different designs: polka dots, chevron, and stripes. The polka dots were super easy to make with just a paint dabber.
The other two patterns were made with stencils which Consumer Crafts has tons to choose from! Don’t worry if you make any mistakes. The vintage farmhouse look is totally forgiving!
Step 3. Once all the patterns have been applied and have dried completely (and I mean completely!), use the sandpaper to distress the surfaces and edges. Take a little bit of extra time on the edges so that the natural wood is exposed.
Step 4. Cut a 12″ piece of ribbon, wrap around the stem of the pumpkin, and tie. You can secure with a hot glue gun if you’re worried about the ribbon falling off.
How perfect would this farmhouse pumpkin project look next to a vintage poster or old apothecary jars? The great thing about this pumpkin project is that you can totally customize it to fit your needs.
Not a big fan of Halloween? Swap out the colors for browns and it’d be the perfect accessory to any Thanksgiving table. Hope you have fun making one of your own!
