Leaf it to me to welcome fall while still hanging onto the bright and cheerful colors of summer! Sorry, if there’s a pun to be had, I’m gonna take a shot at it! Ha! Anyway, while I’m ready to welcome the cooler temps that fall brings, I’m not quite ready for the changing of the leaves, so to meet the two in the middle, I decided that fall could use a pop of happy with some bright summer colors. The end result is a lovely colorful DIY leaf art monogram pallet sign to say hello to the changing of seasons!
Supplies needed to create your own colorful DIY leaf art:
Begin by removing the leaves from the garland. I used about one and one half garlands for this project and tested several different patterns on the pallet prior to paint the leaves. In the end opted for the letter “J” for my last name. I knew I wanted to hang the sign in our entryway, so I thought it would be a fun way to personalize the space.
Next paint your pallet sign a solid color. I wanted my leaves to really pop so I chose to paint mine white, but you could also leave it the natural color, depending upon the desired look you want to achieve.
Then set about painting your leaves in various colors. The brilliant blue, green, pink and purple will definitely keep our entryway bright and happy even on the dullest, chilly fall day.
Once your sign and leaves are dry, you’re ready to start adhering them to the pallet using a low-temp hot glue gun. I laid all the leaves out in the shape of a “J” before I started to glue them down so I could still easily shift them as needed. The leaves curled up a bit after being painted, but flattened out once they were affixed into place.
And that’s it! Gotta love an easy peasy craft that packs a punch!I’m so delighted with how my colorful fall DIY leaf art turned out, and the best part is, I can easily remove the leaves and replace them with snowflakes for winter.
