It’s Game Time! DIY Football Trivets

Craft Basics· Fall

Attention football fans!  Do you host football parties for your friends, family and neighbors?  Do you attend football parties?  Well, today I’m sharing a fun way you can show off your football-loving-self!  Why not have some festive football cork trivets to serve the warm dishes on?  Better yet, why not give one to the host or hostess of the party? Wow their socks off! SCORE!

Football-Trivet-Crafts-Unleashed-2Supplies needed to make your own DIY football trivet:

  • Woodburning Crafting Tool
  • Corkboard Football Shape
  • Ruler
  • Pen
  • Silhouette Cameo Machine (optional)

I started by making a stencil for the stitching on the football.  You could free hand this, but I wanted to play it safe with a stencil.  So I found a football in the Silhouette store and ungrouped the details of the football to only have the stitching.

Silhouette Football to use for stencilI made it about 6″ in length, being the cork football measures about 14.4″ in length. Then I cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo.

Making stencil for footbal stitching on trivet Now we’re ready to get started!

Place stencil (unless you decide to hand draw) of your stitching onto the cork.

tracing and drawingI measured with a ruler for the lines on either side of the football.

start burning the desing onto the corkSlow and steady is the key!  After about 10-15 minutes, you’re done.

wood burning completeWhat do you think?  I love how these football cork trivets turned out and I’m excited to have them around for par-tay time!

Oh for heavens sakes, those are so blasted cute. I have got to make some. Don’t have your Cameo but do have a roll of cork I’ve been moving from one spot in craft room to another (for years). Finally found something I’d really love to make out of it. It’s about time. I’ll find a football template somewhere. Those would be great little gifts also for football watching friends. Such a great post, love, love it. Sure glad you shared this. Happy week
