I love reimagining holidays and making them super colorful! Thanksgiving has always been about the food for me and I haven’t decorated for it more than adding a few pumpkins to the dinner table. However, after making this colorful DIY cornucopia centerpiece, I think I might just decorate more this year! Spray paint and acrylic craft paint were used to transform a rattan cornucopia and orange pumpkins into something all together magical!
Supplies to make your own DIY cornucopia centerpiece:
- Rattan Cornucopia
- Spray Paint in shades of pink and orange
- I used Montana Gold
- Small Pumpkins
- Acrylic Craft Paint in an assortment of colors
- Foam Brush
- Honeycomb Ball Picks
Begin by spray painting the cornucopia in bands of color, letting each blend onto the previous color to give a gradient effect. Don’t forget to paint the inside too!
Once the cornucopia is painted, it’s time to start painting the pumpkins. All you need is a foam brush and acrylic craft paint. Give each pumpkin a coat of paint and let dry. Add a second coat as needed. I also used metallic gold paint to paint the pumpkin stems, but if your pumpkins don’t have stems, you can skip this step.
Once your pumpkins are dry, it is time to assemble the cornucopia centerpiece. Begin by laying down a layer of confetti. I made my own using colored tissue paper, but you can use the pre-cut circle confetti too. Next, add the cornucopia and add in the painted pumpkins.
Add in your favorite colorful dishware and your Thanksgiving celebration is ready to start! I honestly never thought about a pastel Thanksgiving or making a DIY colorful cornucopia centerpiece before this project, but I am not completely obsessed with this idea. How about you?
