Thanksgiving is coming up around the corner, and it’s time to make a few preparations for your holiday meal. I have at least 12 guests in all, and I needed an easy, economical-yet-personal touch to our table settings.
- Core’Dinations “All In the Family” cardstock in Sunflower Yellows
- Cuttlebug & embossing folder (I used Divine Swirls)
- Purple Cow 2-in-1 Paper Cutter
- Foamie pumpkin shapes and leaf stickers
- Glue Dots 3-D adhesive dots
- Prisma Color Markers (they are alcohol-based, so they work on Foamies)
We’ll start by cutting our paper strips with our Purple Cow paper trimmer. (Read more about the 2-in-1 paper cutter here.) I chose to make my napkin rings 7 inches, with a 1 inch overlap. By planning my cutting, I got 10 strips out of one 12X12 piece of Core’Dinations cardstock. Nice!
Using your Cuttlebug, emboss the middle of the strips. Then lightly sand the top of the embossed Core’Dinations paper to reveal the color underneath.
Here’s a tip: cut the front and top off of an old cereal box, leaving the sides and bottom as a sanding tray!
Next, cut the slits in the edges. About 1/2 inch in from one end, cut a slit halfway from the bottom to the top. On the other end of your paper cuff, cut it half way from the top to the bottom. They’ll notch together perfectly.
Ok, now let’s do the fun part- decorating! I’d found cute leaf Foamie stickers, but only plain pumpkins…and they were kinda thin, too! No problem! I used Prisma Color markers to embellish them a little. They work GREAT on Foamies because they are alcohol-based. What ever you do, do NOT use a regular water-based marker on foamies. It will be a smeary mess. (Ask me how I know.)
For another idea, you could write your guests name on the pumpkin and viola- you have a place card, too!
Next, we need to attach these to the cuff- and the best adhesive for this job is 3-D Glue Dots! They add dimension, and make the pumpkins the center of attention!
