I always find that the simplest materials make the best gift wrap. Kraft paper is my favorite type of wrapping paper. It is affordable and also provides a blank canvas for any type of wrapping. This year, I wanted to use doilies and my Silhouette machine to wrap my holiday gifts. I had this great idea of using my Silhouette to cut the names of all the recipients of the gifts. This was a complete craft fail (I posted pictures below)! So instead of using my cutter, I just improvised and used doilies, washi tape and ribbon.
I love the way it turned out! The gifts look better than any wrapping paper that is purchased at the store. I even experimented with spray painting the doily pattern onto the box. I love the way that turned out also, but I think the next time I do it, I would roll out a large sheet and spray paint lots of patterns (to make the mess and clean up more worth it).
Supplies needed to make your own doily gift wrap:
Below is the craft fail. The doily was way too thin and stuck to my mat. I need to figure out how to remove all this paper from my mat without ruining it.
Using my handy dandy washi tape (that makes everything just 10 times cuter) taped the two edges together all around. You could also just glue it on and use ribbon. These are just some gift wrap ideas.
I would love to see what you guys come up with!
