Summer is here and while I love the warm weather and the lazy days, one of my favorite things is celebrating Independence Day. It is by far one of my favorite holiday’s and today I am sharing a super simple DIY 4th of July wreath that can be used to decorate your home.
Supplies needed to make your own DIY 4th of July wreath:
- Ivory Burlap Ribbon
- Red Burlap Ribbon
- Foam Wreath Form
- 3-D Wood Stars (3)
- Blue Craft Paint
- Paint Brushes
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 1. You’ll begin by painting your 3-d wood stars with blue paint. This may take several coats and be sure to let the paint dry in between each coat for best coverage.
Step 2. While the paint on your stars is drying, you’ll begin wrapping the ivory burlap around your wreath. Place a small amount of hot glue on the backside to start. Wrap around tightly, overlapping as you go. This will provide the ivory burlap base needed for your DIY 4th of July wreath.
Step 3. You’ll take your red burlap and cut it into 7 or 8 strips about 16″ inches in length.
Step 4. Add a dab of hot glue to the end of one of the red strips and place it over the white burlap wreath form. Wrap it tightly in place and finish it off with hot glue on the backside. You may need to trim it to get it to fit your wreath form. Measure out an even space (I used about 1 1/2″) and start wrapping on your next piece of red burlap. Continue with this process until you have your wreath form evenly covered in red burlap strips. You can also attach a piece of burlap to use as a wreath hanger.
Step 5. Now it’s time to attach the blue 3-d stars to your DIY 4th of July wreath. Use hot glue to set them in place.
That’s it! Your DIY 4th of July wreath is ready to be displayed!
Now you’ve got a lovely patriotic wreath to usher in the summer season!
