Hosting a Halloween party this year? Create a festive candy corn push pop display of Halloween cupcakes for your celebration!
Every year we host a Halloween party for family and friends. It’s one of our favorite traditions! Some years we keep it simple with just our parents and others we have a big celebration! Since it’s become a yearly tradition, I like to try new decorating and party themes every year. This year I thought it might be fun to display candy corn push pop Halloween cupcakes on our dessert table. I used marabou boas to wrap a container, then added Styrofoam inside. Don’t you love boas? They’re messy but so fun to decorate with for Halloween.
Supplies used to make your own push pop Halloween cupcakes:
To start: prepare your favorite white cake recipe, then divide the batter in half. Dye your batter with orange and yellow food coloring (I used about 3-4 drops for the orange and 2 for the yellow). Preheat oven to 350 degrees and fill your cake mix into two prepared 8 or 9 inch pans. The bigger the pan the thinner the cake layers will be. Bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow cake to fully cool. It’s important to have a cooled cake to prevent it from crumbling in the next step.
While the cake is baking make your Halloween cupcakes display by cutting a piece of floral foam into the pail. Cover your pail with one marabou boa. After I added the push pops I covered the top of the pail with half a boa by working around the pops.
Using the push pop container, cut a circle out of the cake then press it down to the bottom of the container. Add frosting then add another cake layer with the yellow cake. Top with frosting and decorate.
If you keep your frosting to just above the top of the container you can keep them covered with the lids, allowing you to travel with them if needed. Also, add your ribbon before you assemble the cake pops. Trust me, it’s easier and less messy that way. 🙂
