I’m a huge fan of a few different things in my life (Valentine’s Day, paper crafting, and sweet treats – just to name a few), so when I get the chance to combine those three loves in to one awesome project that was actually super simple to put together, I couldn’t be happier. These DIY cupcake toppers pack a pretty visual punch without the hassle of a super intense craft project so anyone can re-create these babies!
Supplies needed to make your own embossed DIY cupcake toppers:
- Cricut Explore or Alphabet Stickers
- Sizzix Texture Embossing Machine
- Mini Heart Embossing Folder
- Red and White Cardstock
- 2 inch Circle Punch
- Tombow Tape Runner
- Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue
- Candy Sticks
Step One. To create the XO letters for the cupcake topper, you can choose from two different options: cut them with a Cricut or use alphabet stickers. I chose to use my Cricut so I could make a higher quantity of cupcake toppers and simply used a cursive font in Design Space. If you use the alphabet stickers, you’ll likely have enough of the X’s and O’s to create three to four cupcake toppers.
Step Two. Use the 2 inch circle punch to cut as many circles from the red card stock as you need cupcake toppers.
Step Three. Place two circles at a time inside the mini heart embossing folder and send it through the embossing machine.
Aren’t those hearts so adorable?!
Step Four. Apply the adhesive to the back of each the letters and press the letters firmly to the embossed circles.
Step Five. Apply a thin line of tacky glue to the top inch of the candy stick.
Press the stick to the back of the embossed circles and press firmly.
Allow the tacky glue to dry completely before placing the toppers in the cupcakes.
These embossed Valentine DIY cupcake toppers are perfect for so many occasions: class parties, Valentine gifts, special treats for a special someone, just to name a few!
