I have always wanted to try embossing powder, so I figured making my own winter greeting cards was a good a time to try it out as any! I have to tell you, it was so much easier to use than I ever thought and that touch of metallic gold it gave the winter card is so pretty! Whether you are an avid crafter or a novice, this DIY gold embossed snowflake mitten card will be a fun project for you to try.
- White Cardstock
- Snowflake Embossing Folder
- Mitten Template
- Embossing Powder
- Heat Gun
- Glue Pen
- Cricut Cuttlebug
- Cricut Maker (optional)
Begin by using your Cricut maker to cut out the mitten cards from the white cardstock using this mitten template file. You can also easily hand-cut the image.
Once you have your cardstock cut out, fold the mitten in half and place in your embossing folder and pass through your Cuttlebug.
Your card will now have a pretty snowflake embossed pattern on it.
Next, take your embossing pen or glue pen and trace a few of the swirls and snowflakes on the card.
Pour the gold embossing powder over the card and then remove the excess powder.
The last step is to use the heat gun to set the embossing powder and turn the dull powder into a metallic finish. Just turn on the heat gun and gently pass it over the power to melt and set it. Once the powder has cooled, your card is ready for you to add your note to your recipient.
