Core’dinations Cardstock just recently released a new collection pack which is not the typical cardstock sheets. This collection is different because not only does the cardstock pack include pre-embossed designs, but many of the designs are also pre-die cut so that the various shapes can be punched out for instant use! How cool and convenient is that? You will want to check out Core’dinations Core Cuts Collection! I thought the concept was perfect to combine with some Cricut designs for a piece of home decor. I just recently added the Art Nouveau Cricut cartridge to my collection, and upon getting immersed in the handbook, I spied a lovely hummingbird design that I knew my mom would love! So I set out to create her a lovely wall hanging to spruce up a little nook in her kitchen for the Summer months.

Back to the Core Cuts Collection, here is what the pack looks like.
Inside you will find frames, borders, embellishments and backgrounds which are embossed and pre-die cut… all ready to use at an instant. You can punch them out, sand them, layer accents and frames… it’s all up to you to be as creative as you please!
For my project, I simply selected a pre-embossed label bracket shape, punched it out of the pack, sanded it with my Sand It Gadget and dusted it off with my Dust Buddy cloth…all from Core’dinations Cardstock. This shape will be used for my project background.
Now using the Cricut Art Nouveau cartridge, I will cut out all my various layers for the Hummingbird using a selection of colors from Core’dinations Cardstock. All my layers for this particular project were cut out at 6 1/2″.
For the circular layer, before adhering it to the bracket label shape background, I also inked the outside edges with a Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad in Marmalade.
Then, I continued to use my Cricut Expression to cut out the rest of the layers for my Hummingbird.
Now comes the piecing and adhering of all the layers. I’ve used foam dimensional adhesive to adhere the layers together and to help achieve great depth to the die cuts.
Once this layered piece is all together, it can be attached to the backround base and finishing touches can be added. I added flower die cuts which I punched out and sanded from the Core Cuts collection pack. Some twinkle “goosebumps” bling were added to flower centers for accenting, and I used a black bling pearl for the bird’s eye.
Punch two holes at the top, one on each side and string a piece of ribbon through each hole. Tie the ends in two knots and it’s all set to hang and enjoy!
