Mother’s Day is just around the corner. This is such an easy project that would be great to do with children! You could even make mini versions if you need a group children’s craft.
Supplies needed to create your own Mother’s Day hanging floral arrangement:
- Silhouette Cameo
- This Cutting File
- 12×12 Two-sided Scrapbook Paper
- Glue Dots
- Floral Water Pick
- Satin Ribbon
- Hole Punch
- Washi Tape (optional)
- Flowers
Step 1: Cut out this file with your Silhouette Cameo.
Step 2: Gently pull the cut paper off the Silhouette mat.
Step 3: Fold the right perforated edge, add several Glue Dots and firmly press the two sides of the pocket together.
Step 4: Fold the perforated top flap down, add Glue Dots and firmly press down.
Step 5: Now you have a pocket! Test it out and add Glue Dots where any flap is not firmly glued down.
Step 6: Punch holes on either side of the pouch, making sure you punch through all layers of paper (this will ensure a stronger hold later).
Step 7: Thread ribbon or wire through the holes and tie knots to secure.
Step 8: This is where I realized that my pocket needed reinforcement on the side. Because the left side is perforated and will need to hold a bit of weight. So I added washi tape to that side.
Step 9: Gather your floral water picks. Add water and flowers. Stick them in your pouch (don’t push too far down or you will put pressure on the sides of your pocket!).
Tip: For two of the picks, alternate the flowers (blue, white, blue white) so it will look more natural. And then use one pick as the focal.
What do you think? I can think of so many occasions where this would be the perfect gift!

is there a template for cutting the shape with just a scissors? Don’t have the machine.
OMG I cant not figure this out!
We used to make a basket out of construction paper at school and fill it up with wilderflowers on the walk home or during recess. We would then hang it on the door knob, ring the doorbell, and run away, then we’d walk in the house a few minutes later to see what mom had to say about the surprise flowers. It’s a fond memory from 30 years ago…
I didn’t know about this May Day tradition, you guys! How fun!
Perfect for tradition of leaving flowers on someone’s doorstep for May Day. If I only had a Cameo… 🙂
Cute idea and great for May Day to leave on a doorknob.
