The holiday season is upon us and once again I’m trying to find the perfect small holiday gift for friends and co-workers. Something that won’t collect dust in the corner of their house but also doesn’t break my bank. That’s where this festive DIY lip balm gift comes in super handy! It’s inexpensive to make but so very handy to receive as a gift. Can anyone ever have too much lip balm? I’ve come up with two different designs below that can work for any holiday gift giving!
Supplies needed to make your own DIY lip balm gift:
- Large Snowflake Die
- Noel Die Cut
- 8.5 x 11 Assorted Glitter Cardstock Value Pack
- Bright Cardstock Stack
- Die Cutting Machine
- Xyron Create-a-Sticker
- Round Lip Balm
We’ll start with the instructions to make the snowflake DIY lip balm gift. Begin by inserting the large snowflake die cut and a sheet of silver glitter paper into the die cut machine. Of course, you don’t have to use the glittered paper I went with but I highly suggest using a really thick cardstock so the paper holds it’s shape. Also, don’t forget to flip the paper to create a mirror shape so that the snowflake lines up perfectly when you glue it together.
Use a pair of sharp scissors to cut out an appropriately sized circle from the center of the snowflake. Make sure not to cut too far out or your snowflake will fall apart! You can see in the image below that this was the largest circle I could possibly cut out. Lucky for me it fit the lip balm perfectly!
Run one of the snowflakes through the Xyron Sticker Maker and then press the two snowflakes together, taking care to match the edges.
Open the lip balm container, insert through the center of the snowflake, and then screw the lid on to close. You can gift just like this or add a piece of ribbon to one of the cutouts to hang!
Next up is this cute Noel version! Begin by using a die cutting machine to cut the letters out of a variety of cardstock.
Use the sticker maker to adhere all the letters except the ornament to a piece of background cardstock. You can use the lip balm to make sure it’s all perfectly spaced apart.
With all the letters in place, trace around the lip balm container to make the “o.”
Trim the edges off the pink background sheet. Use this size to cut a white cardstock sheet to size. Trace and cut out the “o” shape.
Use the sticker maker or any other adhesive to glue the pink “NOEL” sheet in place on the white card. Insert the lip balm container from behind and adhere the final ornament cut out on top.
Your festive DIY lip balm gift is ready to give to that special person! You can attach a small gift tag to the snowflake lip balm if you want to write a To/From message.
Hope you enjoy making and giving these gifts!
