I can’t tell you how many times I have needed a last minute card, and have had to waste time digging through my stash to find a card with the right sentiment! I came up with a solution for this! Bulk “generic” DIY cards that are instantly customizable with specific sentiment pennants.
I mass produced 12 DIY cards in just over a half an hour- and I am thrilled to be able to use them at a moments notice!
Supplies needed to make your own instantly customizable DIY cards:
- David Tutera™ Celebrate A2 Card and Envelope Sets in Kraft
- David Tutera™ Celebrate A2/A6 Circle Window Embossed Layers
- David Tutera™ Celebrate Foil Embossed Seals in Silver and Gold with Hearts
- Multicolored Rhinestones
- White Flowers
- White Pearl Corsage Pins
- Large (2″) Cork
- David Tutera™ Celebrate Sentiments Stickers in Black and White
- Washi Tape (in colors of your choice)
- Foam Mounting Adhesive
- Paper Mache Box (optional, for gifting or storage)
The great thing about the David Tutera Celebrate Card line, is that everything is pre-cut, pre-embossed, pre-trimmed- DONE!
This pack of Step-Two layers were all the same design- perfect for assembly line production!
The first thing you will want to do is adhere your rhinestones. I chose to adhere the stones in the flower centers that were cut out in the design. You could add rhinestone centers to all of the flowers if you want. I wanted them done quickly.
When the rhinestones are adhered, flip the Step Two layer over, and add foam mounting squares. I put one in each corner, and one in the middle.
Attach the Step Two layer to a kraft card base. The great thing about this card system, is that the layers are already trimmed to create a beautiful border around the edge of your finished card.
Then adhere a flower to the center of the cut out circle. You can choose to layer the flowers, or use whatever size you like. I used hot glue to attach them.
When the flowers are secured to the card- add a foam mounting adhesive square to the center of the flower. This step is important!
Cover the adhesive square with a David Tutera Seal.
The foam mounting adhesive will give you a place to stick your pin sentiments into the DIY card.
Now we are going to create those stick pin pennant sentiments!
Choose your colors of Washi tape. I chose six colors- and made four pennant stick pins from each color.
Lay your corsage pin over a section of Washi tape:
and trim the end of the Washi tape into a pennant shape.
Add the sentiment pin to your cork. Done.
I chose to create some pennants that were blank- with no sentiment, to add color to my finished DIY cards.
Continue with your pennants until you have finished enough for all of your DIY cards.
Then insert your stick-pin filled cork, finished DIY cards, and envelopes (they come with the cards!) into a box!
You could get fancy and decorate the box. I just wrapped the lid with a ribbon, and flower and called it good.
Now you can sit back and relax! You will never be caught off-guard searching for a last-minute card again!

Love Love Love your idea and plan on implementing it or something quite similar soon! Thank you ♥
What a smart and talented gal you are. Your cards are so pretty and versatile. I’ve been in that position as I’m sure most of us have. Great to have cards ready for a quick finish. I’m going to pin this project. Great job. Happy weekend
Brilliant! LOVE this idea. I’m off to try to create some for myself. Thanks for sharing!
What a great idea!
These are lovely cards, but I have to ask if you mail them as “Special Handling”? My postmistress makes me pay extra postage for anything that has the slightest “bump” so I wonder about the stick pins and the flower…?
G.E.N.I.U.S! THANKS! Totally scraplifting this idea! 🙂
Not only are these absolutely adorable… after reading your post, I actually think they’re something I could handle making. Maybe. (Cards and scrapbooking intimidate me!)
