I usually get roped into coming up with a craft for the Christmas party at the Elementary school. People think I am “crafty.” I am not sure where they get that. 😉 And right during the holiday season? Because I don’t have a million other things on my plate…
These snowman crafts are perfect for a classroom project! It is really easy for kids of any age, and the materials come in bulk, and are inexpensive. I made two alternatives for you, from the same project: a snowman tree ornament, or a bookmark.
Here are the supplies I used to create both projects. You can slightly adjust depending on the project you choose.
Supplies needed to make your own snowman crafts:
- 1″ White Acrylic Pom Poms
- .75″ White Acrylic Pom Poms
- .5″ White Acrylic Pom Poms
- Small Black Top Hat Decorations
- 4mm Wiggle Eyes
- Red/White Candy Cane Chenille Stems
- G

For the Ornament Snowman:
Hey- do you wanna build a snowman?
Select one of each size of white pom poms and glue them together.
For my snowman crafts, I used a hot glue gun. For little fingers I would choose a school glue, or glue dots.
Next up is dressing the snowman crafts in a magical hat!
Seriously, these things are adorable!
And the package comes with 144 hats- so build an army of snowman crafts!
Trim your chenille stems into thirds. You will want about 4″ per snowman.
Wrap the stem around the snowman neck as a scarf. Then, using small glue dots, adhere the wiggle eyes.
This is your finished snowman- to make him into a bookmark, cover a jumbo wooden craft stick with washi tape.
Trim the ends of the tape with scissors, and adhere the snowman to the end of the stick.
Now your snowman is ready to guard your place in your favorite holiday novel!
To make an ornament out of your snowman, create a tied loop with some baker’s twine. I found a really simple way to make a perfect tied loop- even for little fingers.
Take a 12″ section of baker’s twine, and wrap it around a toilet paper roll. Make a knot.
Tie the knot into a bow. Make the bow fairly small, or it will be way too big for your little snowman.
Carefully slide your tied loop off of the toilet paper roll.
Attach your perfectly sized tied loop onto your snowman’s hat.
He is ready to hang on your tree!
You can see how easy it is to create these cute little snowman crafts! A wonderful (useful!) “kids” craft- for all ages.

Shaunte is a 30-something, chocolate-loving, SAHM from Utah. She has been scrapbooking since 1997, the dreaded era of photos cropped with deco scissors. Since then, her work has evolved into a clean, linear, photo-focused style. Her favorite subjects to scrap are her husband and five kids (never a lack for subject material there).
I was looking for a fun, simple craft to do with my nephews when I go to babysit this week. This came at the perfect time! Thanks for sharing.
