Today’s craft is super simple and perfect for kids! You can make these little pom pom people as alternatives to traditional candy valentine treats or in addition to a sweet lollipop or candy heart box! These particular valentine crafts for kids kept mine busy for hours coming up with new combinations of eyes, hats and feet and once they are assembled, they are perfect for imaginative play as well. The assembly is simple, but you will need a few supplies to get started!
- Assorted Pink Pom Poms
- Assorted Googly Eyes
- Valentine’s Day Heart Beads
- Assorted Foamie Hearts ($2.17 for 300!) and/or Metal Hearts
- Various Miniature Hats (we used top hats and straw hat miniatures)
- Hot Glue or Tacky Glue
Step 1. Choose feet for your pom pom girl or guy. I love these pretty metal hearts, but the foamies work just as well and are inexpensive. Simply glue to the bottom of a pom pom of corresponding size. Adults can hot glue and kids can Elmer’s or Tacky glue, but it takes about 45 minutes for Elmer’s to completely dry.
Step 2. Choose your eyes! Giant oversized googly eyes on a small pom pom are fun, but so are normal sized. Place them at angles to give your pom pom person “personality”. Try colored google eyes or glow in the dark googly eyes for fun! Attach with either hot or white glue and allow to dry laying flat on the pom pom man’s “back” so the eyes don’t slide all over the place.
An alternate choice for eyes are these adorable heart beads!
