I like to include a little activity for the kids at the Thanksgiving table. Something to keep them occupied while the adults are finishing the meal or talking politics. This pine cone turkey craft is the perfect solution. A simple craft for little hands and they will love to take these mini creations home.
- Pine Cones
- Core’dinations Spotted Tillie Dot Paper
- Cricut Explore (or hand cut feathers from a template)
- Foam Sheets
- Brown Felt
- Orange Felt
- Google Eyes
- Kids Glue
- Safety Scissors
Cut feather shapes from the spotted paper using the Cricut or hand cut from a template. I felt that the feather shape might be too hard for my little guests to cut so I did this work for them.
The feet, beak, and head shapes I cut for my example turkey craft only. I left large pieces of foam and felt for my guests to cut their own. You can cut these ahead of time or leave the materials out for the kids to dive in.
At each place setting on the kids table, I placed a pine cone, foam sheets, felt sheets, cut out feathers, scissors, and glue. I also left my example project on the table so they could take a look at how the finished product should come together.
Heck you might even want to add a craft like this to each adult place setting at your Thanksgiving table! I know the kids at my Thanksgiving dinner will have fun with this quick and easy project. Then they can start asking if it is time to go!
