Perler beads are a favorite activity for kids. You can create all kinds of fun shapes and patterns with these tiny plastic beads and once you iron (as directed) the beads melt together and your design is permanently set. So Perler beads make for great kid friendly holiday gift projects too! We recently made these little ornament frames that double as gift tags, all from Perler beads and ribbon. I’ll show you how – let’s get started!
Supplies needed to make your own Perler Bead ornament gift tags:
Create a shape using the Perler beads. leave an opening to create a frame look. Add a little circle at the top as a loop for hanging your ornament.
Iron as directed in the Perler bead instructions.
Cut a piece of cardstock to fit the back of your ornament shape.
Add a picture or word art and then adhere the cardstock to the back of your Perler bead ornament.
String ribbon through the top loop and attach to your gift or hang on your tree. You can use any kind of ribbon, I like using curling ribbon.
Perler beads are easy to use and come in a whole array of colors so you can make a personalized ornament for everyone in the family. The kids will love coming up with new designs. You can add the ornaments as gift tags or wrap them up as gifts all on their own. Happy Holiday creating!
