When I was a kid, I would have loved to know how to make a doll bed for each one of my dolls! It’s small, simple, and sweet. What girl (or boy!) wouldn’t love it? As a mom, however, I love that it’s super easy to put together and I don’t need any heavy machinery or tools to finish it. Total win for both the little and big girl in me! Today, I’m going to show you how to make a doll bed without any tools!
How to make a doll bed supplies:
- Unfinished Wood Tray (comes in a set of three so you can either make more beds or get crafty!)
- 1.5″ Unfinished Wood Knobs
- Frog Tape® Shape Tape™: Scallop Patterned Masking Tape (or cut border pattern out of regular masking tape)
- Acrylic Paint
- Heavy Duty Professional Craft Glue Gun
- Fabric Palette® Fat Quarters Quilt Bundle (or your choice of fabric)
- Felties® White, 1.5mm, Sticky Back Adhesive Felt Sheet – 9 x 12 inches
Step 1. Remove one half of the protective backing from the masking tape and stick in place around the rim of the tray. If you leave the other backing intact, you can just trim off the painted side and still use it for other projects. Apply paint over masking tape in nice large strokes. Step 2. Remove masking tape as soon as you’ve gone all the way around. Look at those nice crisp lines! Step 3. After you have painted and allowed the knobs to dry, apply a large amount of hot glue to the base and adhere in place. Step 4. (1) Cut one of your fat quarter sheets in half. Trim a few rectangles of felt to fit as a mattress pad. 2. Use hot glue or sewing machine to turn edges under. If you’re not using self-adhesive felt, apply a bit of hot glue to each layer to keep in place. 3. Glue outer edges together. 4. Stuff “pillow with pillow fluff or a few extra pieces of felt. Fold over and glue in place. Step 5. Cover, tuck, and kiss goodnight! So super easy and so many ways to customize, right? When it comes to learning how to make a doll bed, you’re really free to try whatever! Just think of all the color and fabric combinations you could try! How cute would it be to add a name to the edge of the bed? Hope you enjoyed this easy but cute tutorial on how to make a doll bed We’d love to see how your doll bed turns out!
