Summer is upon us and if you are like me, you are looking for some easy crafts to do with your little ones. I love to scour Pinterest for ideas and I saw these felt bookmarks. I thought they would be the perfect craft because my oldest loves to read and has been getting into chapter books recently. So I thought what better way to keep that reading going throughout the summer than to make some fun DIY bookmarks.
What I love about this craft is that you can make it simple for the preschool crowd or let older kids really create their own one of a kind DIY bookmarks. Want to make a few of your own this summer? Follow along!
Supplies needed to make your own DIY bookmarks:
Start by cutting two 2.5 inch squares out of your felt. This will be the body of your little bookmark creature.
Then, have a little fun with the felt. Cut out teeth, spots or even a tongue. For the little ones, I would pre-cut everything out for them and have it on the table for them to just glue on. For older kids, you can let them use their creativity in what kind of bookmark they would like to make.
Start by gluing your teeth into place using no sew glue. If you need these DIY bookmarks done in a hurry I would suggest using hot glue. I found the new sew glue to work just fine.
Then glue the back edge and place the other felt piece on top.
The body of your bookmark is done! Now it is time to decorate.
We made a monster for this bookmark and glued on spots and one google eye.
Here we have a snake with teeth.
And we aren’t quite sure what she is but we think she is cute.
Have fun using your imagination creating whatever DIY bookmarks you like! Have a great summer!
