One of the great things about my Silhouette Cameo is having the ability to create custom shirts for my daughter. I usually make her shirts for every holiday and other events throughout the year. This year I made my daughter a new Christmas shirt using fabric and sewable interfacing.
- Silhouette sewable interfacing
- Silhouette Cameo® Electronic Cutting Tool
- Fabric Blade
Making fabric applique shirts can be really easy with a Silhouette because the machine does all the cutting for you. You can pick any shape, name, and size you’d like for just about any custom shirt you can think of. The Silhouette store has thousands of shapes you can choose from and even comes with 51 free shapes. With Christmas right around the corner (wow, is it really only 5 days away?) I wanted to make a Christmas tree shirt for my daughter to wear to visit Santa and to wear on Christmas eve.
I placed the fabric onto the cutting mat right side up, so that the interfacing is adhered to the mat. I switched out my regular blade for the fabric blade and set it to 3. In the Silhouette software I sized the tree to fit the shirt then free handed cut the trunk of the tree (with the interfacing already ironed on).
