This afternoon when I got the mail, I had two little bills waiting for me. Back to school fees. Eek! It is hard to believe, but we are already in July and my children only have about 5 more weeks of summer break left! Where did the summer go!? I am both excited for them and sad for me but I know that next year will be full of new adventures and great things. So today I am sharing a really fun and simple teacher gift idea! And of course I have included a free printable so this is really simple for you and your kiddos to create and to give to their teacher on their first day of school.
This teacher gift idea was inspired by my back to school Colorable Teacher Cards that I created HERE.
I updated the design a little bit and made it the perfect size to fit into these cute chalkboard frames! But the concept is the same, you can print this off, let your child color it, and create a cute little teacher gift with it!
Supplies needed to make your own teacher gift idea frame:
- 3.75″ Chalkboard Frame
- Our Year Looks Bright Printable
- Chalk Marker
- Scissors
- Markers/Highlighters/Colored Pencils/Crayons
Be sure to snag this free printable:
First I printed my printable and cut out around the black square. Then we colored in the word “bright” with fun colored markers! Highlighters, colored pencils or crayons would work too.
Then we placed the card into the frame and secured it in place.
And finally, we used our chalk marker to write our teacher’s name on the front of the chalkboard frame.
The best thing about it being a chalkboard frame is that you can erase and redo until you like how the name looks! We won’t discuss how many times I wrote this name before I was happy with it! Haha.
This teacher gift idea would be cute to package with a new set of markers or highlighters to give to your teacher on the first day of school! Or it is cute by itself. The options are endless!

Doggone it all our kids and their kids are past age where they’d want to take adorable teacher gift to school. No fun anymore, all grandkids are too old, youngest one is starting sophomore year in high school this year and is class president. 2 others are in college, another is senior in high school this year and other two are over 21. Where did all those years go? We missed some years of their lives as we lived in MT and then KY and now CO.
Your teacher gift is so cute, great idea. Now I can’t color in BRight? Happy week
