This easy boho wood DIY tassel necklace comes together so fast – create one for yourself or for a friend with this easy-to-follow tutorial and mix it up with different beads so you have different styles on hand!
Supplies needed to make your own DIY tassel necklace:
- Small Round Wood Beads
- Coin Wood Beads
- Jewelry Wire
- Suede Cording or Pre-made Tassels
- Necklace Chain
- Crimp Beads
- Jewelry Pliers Set
- Bead for Tassel
- Jump Rings
Step 1. First, we want to create the tassel. Loop the suede cording 5-7 times until you reach your desired tassel thickness and cut off. Secure the top with some large jump rings (I used four pieces) before cutting the bottom to create the tassel. You can also get pre-made tassels to make the DIY even easier!
Step 2. Next, string your beads. Secure the end of the wire with a crimp bead before stringing your beads. For visual play, use different bead sizes and shapes – for mine, I used blonde colored round wood beads and darker colored coin beads. So fun!
Step 3. After stringing your beads, secure the other end with a crimp bead to make sure nothing falls out.
Step 4. Attach your tassel in the middle of the strung wood beads. To make it more interesting, use a fun bead with color – like this seafoam colored bead I used – between the tassel and the strung wood bead necklace to give it more of a boho vibe. Attach together with jump rings.
Step 5. Finally, attach your chain. I cut off about 20″ inches of chain for mine since I wanted it to be a long necklace. I skipped adding the clasp as it was easy to get on and off due to the length of the chain.
And that’s it – you’re done! This easy peasy DIY tassel necklace comes together in minutes. Perfect for your summer outfits!
