I just love holly berries for Christmas! It definitely gives me the holiday vibes. This felt holly berry clip comes together really quick and is a perfect hair accessory for the season. See how I created these DIY hair clip ideas with minimal tools and materials and create one for yourself!
Supplies needed to make your own Chrimstas DIY Hair Clip Ideas:
Step 1. Fold your felt in half and draw half of your leaf shape like shown in the photo below. I just free handed the design but to make it easier you can look up different leaf shapes to draw if you are looking for inspiration!
Step 2. Cut a few sizes of leaves to choose from. You can always clean the leaf shape up by cutting each side carefully after your initial cut.
Step 3. Next, use your hot glue gun and put a dab of glue on the bottom of the leaves and fold it up to create some dimension. Wait for the glue to dry – it may be useful to hold the glue together with a clip while you are waiting for it to dry.
Step 4. Next, cut a long strip of felt for your base. Sandwich it between the prongs of your clip, put some hot glue on one side and fold as shown. This covers the top prong of your hair clip.
Step 5. Next, arrange your elements to see how you would like your clip to look like before gluing it down. For the berry, I used one big pom pom ball and two pom pom balls cut off from a strip of pompom trim.
Step 6. Attach the leaves first, positioning them how you laid them out in the previous step. Wait for the glue to dry.
Step 7. Finally, attach your berry and wait for the glue to dry and you are done!
When it comes to DIY hair clip ideas for Christmas, it doesn’t get much easier than that! This holly berry Christmas hair clip is such a great addition to your holiday wear, or as your kids’ hair adornment in holiday photos. My little will definitely sport hers for Christmas! What Christmas event would you wear your hair clip to?
