If you are like me and like to give handmade jewelry as gifts, you need a way to present the jewelry so it properly displays your creative, heartfelt effort. I’ve come up with four ways you can easily embellish a plastic jewelry card with alcohol-based inks. Let’s get started!
Supplies needed to make your own embellished jewelry cards:
- Plastic Jewelry Cards
- Alcohol Ink Markers
- Alcohol Ink
- Ink Blending Tool
- Clear Stamps or Rubber Stamps (thin lines or simple images work best)
- Rubber Stamp Pad (optional)
- Ruler
Technique 1: is just one step! Drip some alcohol ink onto the card and using the blending tool, blend however you’d like. Or just let the alcohol ink dry as an ink spot. Voila! This is my favorite technique because it is fun to watch the inks interact.
Technique 2: Ink a background pattern stamp with the broad side of your Copic marker and then firmly press the stamp onto the jewelry card. I tried several different stamps and the best was a pattern with thin lines.
Technique 3: Again, ink a stamp with the broad side of an alcohol ink marker. This time, I chose a small heart and created a pattern by stamping multiple times. The trick to a good stamped image is to pull the stamp straight up after stamping. If you move it around, the alcohol ink will smear.
Technique 4: Use a ruler and the fine tip of an alcohol ink marker to create random lines on the jewelry card. If you are talented enough, you could even add some doodles and squiggles!
What’s your favorite embellishment technique? I love the ink effects of the alcohol inks!
