Do you have a tangle of jewelry piled in a drawer somewhere? Get it organized in style with this fun DIY jewelry organizer storage box project! Follow along as I show you how to make your own.
Supplies needed to make your own DIY jewelry organizer box:
- Unfinished Wood Storage Jewelry Box
- Gold Silhouette Printable Foil Paper or Gold Vinyl
- Chalk Paint (I used gray)
- Silhouette Portrait Cutting Machine
- Silhouette Transfer Paper or Contact Paper
I fell in love with this wooden storage box because it has drawers that lift out with hidden storage underneath. I also love the dividers. They help keep everything tidy.
Begin by painting the wooden parts of the box. I chose to paint the insides of the trays solid gray, used a wash to lightly paint the outside of the box, and left the outsides of the trays natural wood.
Next, design an image to add to the clear plastic window. I chose the phrase “True Beauty Comes From Within.” I thought it would be a good reminder as I get ready each day.
Once you’ve designed an image and prepared it for cutting in the Silhouette Studio software, load a sheet of Gold Foil onto your cutting mat. Choose the setting for Printable Foil in the cut settings screen under “Material Type.” Change your blade to level 5, then cut out your design.
To add the design to your lid, peel away the extra gold foil material, leaving only the desired words or image. Transfer the design to image transfer paper or contact paper. Then position the design on the lid, rub the image firmly to adhere the image to the lid, then remove the image transfer paper slowly and carefully.
The printable gold foil has the most beautiful sheen. Like the name suggests, you can actually print designs on the foil with your home printer. That feature opens up a world of possibilities!
The last step is to fill your new DIY jewelry organizer with all of your favorite trinkets and enjoy your beautifully organized treasures!
