Can you believe there are only 160 days until Christmas? That’s just a little more than five months and you know how crazy things get around Halloween and Thanksgiving so really, it’ll be here before you know it! If you’re planning on getting an early start on making (or at least pinning!) some gifts for your book-loving friends, this DIY Harry Potter bookmark tutorial is for you!
- Bright Silver Book Mark Form
- Darice® Short Jewelry Chain Lengths
- Vintaj® Pewter Perched Owl Pendant
- Silver Feathered Wings Bead Strand
- Round Gold Filigree Beads
- Antique Silver Frame Charms
- Hercules 1/2 inch Double Sided Tape
- Sterling Silver Plated 22 Gauge Jewelry Wire
- Chain Nose Pliers
Step 1. The supplies above are what you’ll need to make one DIY Harry Potter bookmark. Some of the materials come in multiples so this is a great gift if you’re planning on making some for a few different people. The bookmark, pewter owl, and frame charm are the only things that come one or two per pack so plan accordingly when you order.
Step 2. The little feathered ball (or ‘Snitch’ if you’re a Potterhead!) is easy to assemble. First you’re going to remove the two jump rings that come attached to the wings. Put them aside but don’t throw them away, we’ll need them later! Wind a small piece of metal wire around one wing, through the bead, and around the other wing. Attach one of the extra jump rings to the top of the bead by weaving through the filigree spaces.
Step 3. To make the “Always” pendant, cut out a piece of paper to fit the charm (use clear protective cover as template). Write the word and stick in place with double sided tape. Make sure the ink is completely dry before adhering the clear protective cover.
So easy to make and anyone who is a fan of Harry Potter is sure to love this DIY Harry Potter bookmark! Of course, you can customize it to match the personality and interests of any gift recipient. Check out Consumer Craft’s Jewelry section for endless possibilities!
