You can create watercolor hoop art for your home in just a few simple steps with our new Spectrum Aqua watercolor markers. These markers make it easy to add watercolor magic to your home decor. Grab a hoop, some fabric, and get inspired to make your own creation today.
I ended up making three pieces of hoop art as shown above. I will talk about how to make each one below. The steps are roughly the same for all three.
Supplies needed to make your own watercolor hoop art:
- Spectrum Aqua Watercolor Markers.
- Embroidery Hoops.
- White Canvas Fabric.
- Paint Brush.
- Water.
- Scissors.
Insert the material into the hoop and pull tight. Tighten the screw on the hoop. Trim any excess fabric on the back with scissors.
I am going to start with the watercolor state art. Print a silhouette of your state in the size to fit your hoop. Cut it out from the paper and trace around it using the black watercolor marker.
Start in one corner and apply a little bit of marker. Then use the water and paint brush to spread it out onto your fabric.
Pick your next color and continue in the same manner.
Each time you add a new color, be sure to blend it into the other colors slightly when you are using the water and paint brush.
Continue until your entire state is filled with gorgeous color.
Set aside to dry then display your new watercolor hoop art proudly.
Want a geometric look? Trace around any object with the watercolor markers to create a pattern.
Run over the entire pattern with water and your paint brush to create unique one of a kind art.
Again, set aside to dry before hanging.
If you want a quote, just write it out with the markers then go over each line with your paint brush and water.
For this version I found a piece of art I loved online and mimicked it to the best of my ability. This will definitely encourage you to create happiness in your home!
Search and find some inspirational art online then grab your hoop and watercolor markers. This watercolor hoop art is as easy to create as drawing then wiping over your lines with water.
Give this technique a try for art around your home!
