It is that time of year when we all start planning our holiday celebrations. This Thanksgiving DIY table runner will go perfectly on your holiday table. You can make it in just minutes and have a table runner that adds a gorgeous touch of fall color. The leaves are felt plus they come already cut and have those lines painted on them. The burlap runner comes already to size with the edges finished. This project is more like an assembly than it is a craft project! Y’all that is why this is the perfect project for the busy holiday season.
Supplies needed to make your own Thanksgiving DIY table runner:
- Burlap Runner (comes in an 18 x 36 inch size)
- Felties Felt Leaves
- Wax Paper or other protection on your work surface
- Hot Glue and Glue Gun
- Marker
- Paper Plate
If the 18 by 36 runner is not long enough for your table, stitch multiple runners together before beginning. Protect your work surface with wax paper or another non-stick surface. Once you have your desired length and have protected your surface, trace a circle on both ends of the runner with a marker. Here we used a paper plate.
Use your hot glue gun to begin placing leaves on the circle you just marked. Slightly overlap the leaves as shown. Vary the leaves randomly by color and by shape. All of these varieties are included in the one kit that is linked in the supply list above. There is plenty in the kit to make this DIY table runner and several others!
Add additional leaves in a second layer on top of the first. You can see the placement of the additional leaves in the image below. I stopped after two layers but by all means keep adding leaves if you want a different look for your DIY table runner. You could also add on bows or other embellishments.
Your Thanksgiving DIY table runner is DONE! Yes, that quickly! Just lift the runner from the non-stick surface once you have completely glued each leaf into place. The wax paper should catch all of the excess glue that will go through the burlap. You might have to pick at a few areas to remove completely. Please note that because I used hot glue this table runner is not machine washable. Try a good quality fabric glue if you want to throw this in the washer.
Set your table with this gorgeous burlap DIY table runner and start getting ready for your Thanksgiving guests. This is one project that is easy to make and will not break the holiday budget. If you need a new Thanksgiving table runner, consider making your own with this super simple craft project.
