When I get the chance to sneak out of the house – child-free and coffee in hand – I like to go window shopping. There’s something about taking my time down the aisles…picking things up, and then putting them down on the shelf…getting a chance to see what’s new.
It’s also a fabulous way to get inspiration.
I came across this fabulous tasseled decorative pillow by Anthropologie and stopped to take a second look. I thought to myself, “I can make this!” And so I did.
Supplies needed to make your own tasseled decorative pillow:
- Pillow Form and Cover
- Tassels in various colours (I used about 40 total of blue and green, pinks & turquoise and teal)
- Sewing Kit with Needle, Thread & Measuring Tape
I love that these tassels have the finished silver cap. I also love that they come ready to be sewn on.
Yes, I could make a bunch of tassels and fiddle around with a bunch of thread. I could.
But I don’t want to.
I chose a pillow cover that was an off-white and inexpensive. They’re easily found at most home decor stores.
I laid out the tassels on the pillow cover, and measured it out so that they were equally spaced. I then sewed them on using white thread and a needle.
Honestly, it all came together pretty quickly. Even for a novice seamstress like myself, the decorative pillow was finished before I realized it!
I loved the look of the colours next to each other. The pillow was instantly transformed.
And a simple white pillow was now given a bit of excitement!
Make this simple decorative pillow knock-off in under an hour!
I love it when things work out so well.
