As part of the Spring challenge, I got to step out of my comfort zone a bit with these rustic craft supplies and this glass vase. I just love using unusual craft supplies to create something that fits with my aesthetic. I’m so excited to show you this Spring glass vase idea!

Supplies needed to make your own glass vase decor and place card holders:
- Chicken Wire (I love that in comes in white!)
- Moss Twig Vine Garland
- Wired Sisal Vine
- Wire Cutters
- Vase
Step 1: Wrap the chicken wire all the way around the glass vase. This will determine how wide the piece of wire should be and you can snip the wire vertically at the appropriate point.
Step 2: Now determine the right height of the chicken wire and snip the wire in a horizontal line.
Step 3: Now the chicken wire should be the right height and width. Use a bit of the sisal vine to tie the ends of the wire together. No adhesive necessary!
Step 4: Now the fun part – decorating! Wrap the sisal vine around the vase several times. I used all of the vine and created a few small loops along the way.
Step 5: Now wrap the moss covered vine around the vase. I also used the entire amount of the vine. That’s it! I added a ribbon bow for extra color but I also love it plain.
I decided to complement the centerpiece with place card holders. They have a rustic chic vibe and I would totally love to have an outdoor Spring party with this theme.
I’m not sure this even needs tutorial steps! I cut a chicken wire rectangle that was about 4 inches long and 3 inches wide. I bent a little lip on one end and then bent the whole thing in half. That’s it!
I took a few mossy twig pieces from the glass vase decor and used them to spice up the place card holder.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this vase cover. It’s easy to take off when I want to change the decor but I might never take it off the vase! My husband keeps catching me staring lovingly at the vase. It’s an easy, satisfying project.
I could totally see this working with a bird/egg/nest baby shower theme, can’t you?

Had to pin this post right away so I don’t forget about it. It looks so adorable and rustic at same time, to me anyway. Will have to find the chicken wire and other supplies you used, hopefully at Hobby Lobby or Jo-
Ann’s. Our Michaels doesn’t carry any of the Darice products. I have one coupon for HL and couple 50% off for Jo-Anns’. Our area isn’t real good about having alot of products other areas do. Frustrating as heck for me. I see all these great things on blog land then when I go to Grand Junction, nothing. It’s a bit of a trip to G.J. for us as we live few miles west. Maybe I’ll look to see if both stores have this stuff online. I hate to pay s&h but better than wasting gas huh? Hope I can find what I need somewhere. Happy week
